Steps

1
Done

PREPARING THE PASTE

Mix all the powder spices, some cooking oil and salt in a bowl to form a thick paste.
This hot sauce from Heat Wave delivers a serious flavour punch and comes in both mild and hot tones.

2
Done

PREPARING THE FILLET

Make small incisions on the both sides of the fillet then generously apply the paste on it. Whole fish works too.

Caution should be taken to not make cuts too deep like I did else you'll have trouble flipping the fillet.

Done

AIRFRYING

Slice the lemon, apply a thin layer of the remaining paste in the air fryer tray, lay up the lemon slices in the tray then put in the fillet.
Caution should be taken to not surpass the “Max” indicator on the tray. Chop up the fillet into manageable sizes if they don’t fit.

Close the air fryer, set the temperature to 200 degrees Celsius and time to 12 minutes then pause halfway to flip.
If after 12 minutes the fillet isn’t crispy on the outside, give it an extra 5 minutes at 200 degrees

Serving

And that’s it! Your meal is now ready to serve.

Pair it with some veggies, salsa and starch of your choice. I went with a combination of managu, terere, kanzera and spinach for greens. We all agree no starch beats ugali on this one.

Try the recipe and share your results. I’d love to see what you guys whip up.
